Athletics at St. Stephen’s Academy

Competition and Character Formation

St. Stephen’s Academy athletics are about far more than winning; they exist to glorify the Lord and build character. We believe that as image bearers, student athletes should endeavor to train, practice, and compete in sports to the glory of God. All other goals are subservient to this one purpose. Our coaches seek to instill in students the Christian values of perseverance, humility, integrity, and grace via athletic competition. Through the challenges and triumphs of sports, students learn to handle successes with humility and setbacks with grace. They develop a strong sense of discipline and commitment, essential for their spiritual growth and personal development.

The Middle School Athletic Program strives to expand students’ interest in athletics, develop basic skills, and gain improvement through participation. Athletics at the middle school level give students an opportunity to grow in sportsmanship and perseverance, while fostering positive discipline and motivation. Here, we focus on personal and spiritual growth, regardless of competitive outcome.

The High School Athletic Program aims to develop advanced skills and Christian character at a competitive level. At the high school level, athletes will have the opportunity to experience more intense and diligent training programs and an increased level of participation. Varsity level athletics are highly competitive. At this level, athletes are held accountable to a higher standard in skills, character, sportsmanship, and commitment.
