Our Mission:

As a classical, Christian school, St. Stephen's Academy aims to provide an academically excellent and affordable Classical Christian education that equips students with tools of learning that will last a lifetime.

Our Vision:

  • To teach our students a body of knowledge that will enable them to:
    • comprehend the world in which they live
    • confront contemporary culture with a Christian worldview
    • communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ clearly and graciously
  • To enable children to be lifelong learners who are equipped to serve the communities where they live
  • To use a Classical curriculum, based on a model used since medieval times

Our childrens' education is divided into three stages, the Trivium, corresponding to a child's natural stages of development:

  • Grammar (K-6) - the foundational rules and facts of each subject
  • Logic (7-9) - the reasoning that ties together a multititude of subjects to form an integrated worldview
  • Rhetoric (10 - 12) - the skills to communicate clearly and persuasively

Our Values:

We believe in a God who has revealed Himself in Creation, and, supremely, in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Bible which bears witness to Him. We believe this God has called us to worship Him with our minds. Therefore, we regard it as critical that each child be given the opportunity to develop his mind to the limit of its potential within the framework of a biblical worldview.

We believe in a God who left the glory of heaven to serve, even in the shame and pain of death on a cross. We are called to follow in Christ's footsteps of humble service. Therefore, the school is a natural extension of the Presbyterian Church with which we are associated.

The practical application of these values includes:

  • Handling disagreements and discipline biblically
  • Maintaining a quiet, ordered and disciplined environment that allows each child to apply himself to his or her studies
  • Using recess as an opportunity for wholesome play
  • Maintaining good relations with the community in which the school is placed

Our Purpose

We want our children to grow up with a passionate desire to seek and understand truth. We do not want well-educated adults who have merely learned to "win" arguments or "spin" facts. Rather, they should understand truth and be concerned to promote and defend it persuasively. We believe that this is an essential component of healthy families, a healthy culture, government, and society.

Tuition

2008-2009 academic year:

  • $2,045 (Kindergarten)
  • $3,885 (Grades 1-6)
  • $4,145 (Grades 7 & 9)
  • $4,400 (Grades 10-12)

We want to serve our community by providing an affordable educational alternative that honors Christ and keeps Him at the center of all we do. We make every effort to open St. Stephen's to all students who meet its entrance requirements.
